BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Leaving your names on
the Great Wall of China after completing your tour, it's immoral and also
punishable under new regulations on protecting the Great Wall which will take
effect on Dec. 1, 2006, or Friday.
The regulations listed activities forbidden on the
Great Wall, including taking away earth, bricks and stones from the wall,
planting crops on the wall, daubing and inscription, installing facilities
unrelated with Great Wall protection, driving across the wall, exhibiting
articles that may damage the wall, organizing activities in off-limits sections
and other activities forbidden by China's cultural relics protection law.
Violations will incur penalties as high as 50,000
yuan (about 6,410 U.S. dollars) for individuals and 500,000 yuan (about
64,100dollars) for organizations.
