    BAGHDAD, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- A suicide car bomber struck a police commando checkpoint in southwestern Baghdad on Wednesday, killing a commando member and wounding three others, a well-informed police source said.

    "A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a police commando checkpoint in the Shurta al-Rabi'a neighborhood, killing a commando member and wounding three others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

    Four civilians were also wounded by the blast, he added.

    Earlier in the day, another suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into the Tharthar police station in Samarra City, 120 kmnorth of Baghdad, killing four policemen and wounding six others.

    Violence rages in Iraq as sectarian killings, car bombings, and roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.

    "A car bomb parking in the Nidhal Street in Karradah neighborhood killed a civilian and wounded five others," the
source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

    In a separate incident, a roadside bomb detonated near a police patrol in the Uqba Bin Nafie road junction in southern Baghdad, damaging a police patrol and wounding three policemen aboard, the source added.

    Violence rages in Iraq as sectarian killings, car bombings, and roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
