DOHA, Qatar, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- David Atkins, artistic director of Sydney Olympic Games, revealed here on Tuesday that the opening ceremony in Doha Asian Games will be full of high technology and traditional cultural touch.

Comparing with the unforgettable successful opening ceremony of the 2000 Olympic Games, Atkins admitted there are many differences in Doha Asian Games.

Atkins said: "There are many, many high technology developments. It's a new level, you will see at that day on Dec. 1. While in Sydney, we had more people and a longer ceremony."

There will be 7,000 performers at the three-hour and 20-minutesopening ceremony, he said.

"Qatar is a new and young nation but its culture has thousands of years. The history and traditions of the Arab and Islamic world and all over Asia will be shown at the ceremony," said the Aussie.

These themes, as well as a range of costumes, symbols and images, will highlight the opening ceremony, which takes audiences on a journey through the history of Qatar, the Gulf region and its relationship with Asia.

"It will be fancy!" Atkins assured. "Special fireworks will be lightening at the very beginning of the ceremony. There are many horses during the show because horse is a strong symbol, a part of the Qatari history."

The 15th Asian Games, featuring 45 countries and regions, will be held in Doha, the capital of the Gulf state of Qatar, on Dec. 1-15.
