GAZA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Hassan Khrisha said Sunday the parliament would cast no vote of confidence to any upcoming government if Hamas lawmakers and the speaker remained in Israeli prisons.
"This is a moral stance, it is unreasonable the PLC give vote of confidence while 40 lawmakers are jailed," Khrisha told reporters.
Israel kidnapped most of Hamas lawmakers in West Bank in response to the capturing of Corporal Gilad Shalit by militants in Gaza.
Among those imprisoned, there are ministers and PLC Speaker Aziz Dweik.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has for several times stressed that the new national unity government would not take place before Israel releases Hamas officials.
The detention of Hamas lawmakers, who enjoy the majority at the parliament, has affected the work of the parliament.
