Special Report: Hu Jintao visits 4 Asian nations, attends APEC Meeting

    BEIJING, Nov. 23 -- Chinese President, Hu Jintao, has arrived in Islamabad, on the last leg of his four-nation Asian tour. He is expected to meet with top Pakistani leaders to discuss bilateral ties, as well as exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

    On hand to greet President Hu Jintao was his Pakistani counterpart, Pervez Musharraf, and other top Pakistani political and military leaders.

In a written statement delivered upon arrival, Hu Jintao said that China and Pakistan are good neighbors, and that friendly ties between the two countries have contributed to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

    Hu Jintao said since the two counties forged diplomatic ties 55 years ago, they've built an all-weather friendship and enjoyed comprehensive cooperation.

    The Chinese President said his visit aims to deepen friendship, expand cooperation and lay down plans for future bilateral ties. He said he is looking forward to in-depth discussions with President Musharraf and other Pakistani leaders.

    Hu Jintao said he hopes his visit will consolidate the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan and usher in a new age of closer relations between the two countries.

    President Hu Jintao also attended a banquet on Thursday, held in his honor and hosted by President Musharraf.
