BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Hollywood actress
Jessica Alba was voted "the celebrity that most students would like as a
substitute teacher" in a opinion poll by the National Education
Association, according to news reports Thursday.
Topping the poll by bagging approximately 46 percent of
the votes, "The Sin City" actress apparently beat talk-show queen Oprah
Winfrey with 24 percent of the votes and Angelina Jolie with 14 percent of the
votes.
More than 5,000 people took part in the poll conducted in
honour of Substitute Educators Day on Nov. 17.
Twenty-five-year old Alba landed several bit parts in
movies such as "Never Been Kissed," and "Idle Hands." Her big break came when
she was cast in the lead role of James Cameron's sci-fi drama "Dark Angel."
Alba is currently shooting the sequel the "The
Fantastic Four" in which she plays the Invisible Woman.
Reg Weaver, NEA president, said the poll was
conducted to bring into focus the role of substitute teachers who work long and
hard, but who rarely get credit for a student's success.
"Just as actress Jessica Alba toiled long and hard before
achieving stardom, substitute educators work tirelessly -- and often in relative
anonymity to provide every child with a quality public education," Weaver added.
