RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's top film producer Diler Trindade will make two films and a TV series to be set in China and Brazil, and also set to be bilingual in Chinese and Portuguese.
Brazilian actor Lucelia Santos will star in the ambitious production, entitled "O Amor do outro lado do mundo" or "Love on the Other Side of the World", which is comprised of a film, a sequel film and a four-episode TV series. The producers will be in China this December to select three local actors and locations for the production.
Brazilian director Moacyr Goes will shoot the film and series in China and Brazil in April-June 2007. Shooting in China will take place in Sichuan province, including the Leshan Giant Buddha site, Beijing, Shanghai and Macau.
The first film is scheduled to be released in Oct. 2007 in theatres in both countries, while the sequel is due to open in Feb. 2008. And the series will be aired after the screening of the films.
"We are negotiating the series rights for China with local TV station in Sichuan. In Brazil, TV Record is likely to air the series," said Diler.
In the plot, Santos plays the part of a Brazilian journalist who travels to China in search of a Chinese man born in Brazil.
Santos, famous in China for her role in tele-novela Isaura, has been working on the film project for eight years. The total budget for the two films and the series totals 9 million reais (4.2 million U.S. dollars).
