KATHMANDU, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The joint team of the government, the UN and Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) (formerly known as guerilla) have finalized only major cantonment locations to put CPN's armed forces, although the government and CPN agreed to gather all CPN's armed forces into those cantonments till date, according to local media.

The agreement singed on Nov. 8 also states that Nepali Army (NA)too would be confined into barracks by Nov. 21. But, single job has not been done in this regard, the nepalnews online reported.

However, Barsa Man Pun, deputy commander of CPN's armed forces, told Rajdhani vernacular daily that they would confine their armed forces into cantonments by Wednesday.

The major seven cantonments so far decided are Chulachuli and Dudhauli areas of Ilam and Sindhuli districts in eastern Nepal, Nuwagaon and Dasarathpur areas of mid-west Rolpa and Surkhet districts and Masuriya in far-west Kailali district.

However the proposed sites in northern Kavre and southern Palpa district have been sifted to southern Chitwan and Nawalparasi district respectively. They are yet to finalize other 21 small cantonments sites for the CPN's armies.

The UN team also should have begun monitoring and verification of CPN's armies from Nov. 21 after they gather into cantonments by the date.

But, Ian Martin, UN secretary general Kofi Annan's personal representative has already stated that his team would be able to take up the job only after a tripartite agreement is signed among the UN, the government and the CPN.
