KATHMANDU, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Coordinators of the
Nepali government and the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) (formerly known as
guerrilla) talks teams have said that the comprehensive peace agreement will be
signed by Tuesday evening, the national news agency RSS reported.
Negotiators Monday said that the draft of the peace
agreement had almost been agreed with only one or two issue to be decided.
The remaining issues will be finalized by Tuesday
afternoon and the agreement signed by Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and
the CPN top leader Prachanda later in the evening, the negotiators was quoted by
RSS as saying.
According to RSS, coordinator of the ruling Seven
Party Alliance (SPA) government talks team and Home Minister Krishna Prasad
Sitoula said that all issues were being finalized on the theoretical and
ideological basis of the historical agreement reached between the SPA and the
CPN.
Krishna Bahadur Mahara, coordinator of the CPN talks
team, said the deliberations were held in a very positive manner and expressed
the confidence that the draft would get a final shape by Tuesday.
The SPA government and the CPN have reached a
historic agreement on Nev. 8, with both sides agreeing to form an interim
government by Dec. 1 to end the decade-old conflict.
As per the agreement, the future of the monarchy will
be decided by the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly; the interim
government containing members of the CPN will be formed by Dec. 1; the present
House of Representatives will be dissolved by Nov. 26 and new constitution will
be announced by the date; the CPN's "People's Liberation Army" will be kept in
seven divisions and 21 brigades across the country by Nov. 21.
An interim legislature containing 330 members will be
formed.
