(Xinhuanet)-- Kevin Federline has filed for sole custody of his two
children with pop star Britney Spears because he feels Spears "is
not fit to take care of them on her own," accoreding to U.S. media reports
Monday.
Federline, a former U.S. dancer, counter-sued
Spears one day after she filed for divorce, asking for sole physical and legal
custody of their children: 14-months Sean Preston, and two-month Jayden James.
Spears was found in an incident earlier in 2006 where she
drove with Preston on her lap and another where she had him in his car
safety seat facing the wrong way, according to Federline.
Compared with Spears' carelessness, "Kevin feels he
is a great parent and acting solely in the best interest of his children. He's
not doing this for the money," said Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline's attorney.
"Kevin is prepared to go the distance in order to
protect and safeguard the children and will not be dissuaded or intimidated from
the pursuit of these goals," Kaplan added.
Spears filed for divorce with Federline on Nov. 8 as
words of their rocky marriage had been circulating for months.
"During Britney's whole pregnancy, they had problems.
She tried to support him as much as she could, but at the end of the day, she
realized it wasn't best for her and her children," someone close to Spears told
People.
Federline also has two children with ex-girlfriend
Shar Jackson. Although she doesn't receive any child support from
Federline, he does pay for the children's private school costs, Jackson
said.
However, Spears' grandfather, June Austin Spears was
very angry at Federline, lashing out at him and telling Star, "Why didn't
he try and get custody of his other kids? It's because that other woman doesn't
have money, and Britney has money."

Kevin Federline seeks to shed "Mr Britney
Spears" tag
BEIJING, Nov. 7 -- Aspiring rapper Kevin Federline is so tired of being
referred to as "Mr Britney Spears", that he's decided to pen a book about his
life so that people can know the real him.
The "Playing With Fire" singer, who was a back-up
dancer when he met Spears, has not had an easy time dealing with the loss of his
identity and being referred to only as Britney's hubby.
Now, in a bid to create an independent image for
himself, Federline has decided to pen the story of what his life was like before
he met the "Toxic" singer.
"The book is definite. It will be a biography of my
life until I met my wife, so people will better understand who I am," the New
York Post quoted him, as saying.
However, unlike his rap career, K-Fed won't be
tackling his new project on his own, deciding instead to hire the services of a
ghostwriter.
"I haven't done it yet. You know, I'll get a
ghostwriter in there," he added.
