JAKARTA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Police chief
General Sutanto said here Wednesday that last week's bomb blast at an A and W
fast food outlet in East Jakarta had nothing to do with the planned visit of
U.S. President George W. Bush to Indonesia on Nov.20.
"It (the bomb explosion) has no link with the
security arrangements for the planned visit of Bush," the police chief said when
asked if the police had tightened security ahead of the U.S. president's visit
due to the bomb blast.
He said that as a good host, Indonesia had to prepare
everything well, including security arrangements for any state guest who came
from any other country.
"The head of our state also enjoys a moment of good
treatment if he or she is on an overseas visit," Antara news agency quoted
Sutanto as saying.
The blast from a low explosive bomb occurred at an A
and W fastfood outlet in the Kramat Jati Indah Plaza, East Jakarta, on Saturday
(Nov. 11), injuring one person.
The victim has been suspected to be the man behind
the blast.
The explosion occurred in the runup to President
Bush's planned visit to Indonesia on Nov. 20. The planned visit sparked protest
and rallies in various parts of the country.
Talks during the Bush visit are expected to focus on
six topics, namely Indonesia's desire to attract more U.S. investment,
cooperation in biofuel development, education, the fight against bird flu,
natural disaster handling and information technology.
