BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- As winner
of the 2006 Super Girl Contest, rated by some Fudan University professors
as among the top five best Chinese-French simultaneous interpreters in
Shanghai, Shang Wenjie has met jeers and scathing criticism on the
internet.
Shang published a poem in French on her
blog last month. Unfortunately, netizens found five basic grammatical
mistakes in the poem. They suggested this kinds of mistakes "are not
supposed to be made even by elementary school pupils," and moreover,
in such a short poem -- "nine lines in all!"
"If she could be one of the top five simultaneous
interpreters in Shanghai, how could the French hope to communicate with the
Chinese? " one of netizens asked on his blog.
Shang, 24, a French language major in the Fudan
University, won the Super Girl Contest in September. The contest is
said to be a Chinese copy of the star-making American Idol.
