BAGHDAD, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- A civilian was killed and ten others wounded when a homemade bomb went off at a busy parking lot in eastern Baghdad on Tuesday, a police source said.

    A homemade bomb detonated around 2 p.m. (1100 GMT) in the Mashtal parking lot, killing a civilian and wounding ten others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

    The blast damaged several cars and nearby buildings, he added. In separate incident, ten people were killed and 25 others wounded when a car bomb went off in the al-Amin Intersection near the busy Shourjah market.

    Earlier, gunmen kidnapped more than 100 employees of the Higher Education Ministry in Nidhal Street in Karradah district.
