Democrat wins Senate seat in Missouri
WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Republican Senator Jim
Talent conceded defeat to his Democrat chanllenger Claire McCaskill in Missouri
early Wednesday, giving one more Senate seat to Democrats.

Democrats win control of U.S. House of
Represetatives
WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Democrats have won 218
seats as of 1 a.m. (0600 GMT) on Wedneday, enough to take control of the House
of the Represtatives, in U.S. mid-term elections.
Local media predicted Democrats would finally win 233
seats and Republicans 202 seats in 435-member House.
U.S. election: technical glitches, FBI
investigations
BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Election Day 2006
in the United States proved true fears of technological failures at the polls,
and has also led to to an FBI investigation in at least two states where some
voters reported intimidating phone calls, misleading sample ballots and an armed
man outside a polling place.
In Virginia, the FBI was looking into complaints
of a campaign of phone calls in the hard-fought U.S. Senate race between
Republican George Allen and Democrat Jim Webb. Some voters said they got
calls telling them to stay home on Election Day, or face criminal charges. Full story>>
Democrats set to control House, Senate
undecided
WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- While the Democrats
appear set to take control of the House of Representatives in Tuesday's mid-term
legislative elections, the Senate race is still to close to call.
The Democrats have captured 19 seats from the
Republicans in Tuesday's mid-term legislative elections; enough for the
Democrats to take control of the 435-seat House for the first time since 1994.
