Italian PM: Bush loses midterm vote due to Iraq policy
ROME, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi said Wednesday that U.S. President George W. Bush had lost midterm elections mainly because of his policy on Iraq, according to the local media report.
Asked in a radio interview whether the issue had been crucial in the way Americans voted on Tuesday, Prodi answered: "Basically yes. There were a few domestic policy problems but also the ones deriving from the war in Iraq." Full story>>

Bush made the announcement one day after Democrats won control of the House of Representatives in the legislative elections and was just one seat short of capturing control of the Senate.
Bush votes in key midterm legislative elections
WASHINGTON, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush cast his vote on Tuesday in key U.S. legislative elections in his hometown of Crawford, Texas, and urged Americans to do the same.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush accused Democrats as being "wrong" on Iraq on Monday, when he was campaigning in the southeastern state of Georgia for candidates of the Republican Party, which might lose its control of Congress in the midterm elections just eight days away.
In his speech at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, Bush repeated his usual defense of the Iraq war as "a central part of the war on terror" and said that his party's goal in Iraq was "to win" while the Democrats' goal was "to get out" U.S. troops from Iraq. Full story>>
U.S. congressman announces bid for presidential candidacy
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. congressman Duncan Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Service Committee, announced Monday that he plans to make a long shot bid for the Republican party's 2008 nomination for president.
Hunter, who represents California in the House, said his campaign will feature the two issues that are his trademarks: support for the U.S. military and opposition to illegal immigration, the Los Angeles Times reported on its website. Full Story
