    Both Palestinian Hamas, Fatah condemn Israeli arrest of Hamas minister

    RAMALLAH, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Both Palestinian governing Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and its rival Fatah movement on Friday condemned the Israeli army for arresting a Hamas-led government minister in the West Bank city of Ramallah earlier in the day.

    Palestinian security sources said that Israeli troops surrounded the house of Public Works Minister Abdel Rahman Zeidan and took him away earlier on Friday, while holding the rest of the family inside a room. Full story

    Abbas urges UN Security Council to convene and discuss situation in Gaza

     RAMALLAH, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas asked the UN Security Council on Saturday to convene and discuss the Israeli military operations in Gaza Strip, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

    WAFA quoted presidential sources as saying that Abbas had sent a letter to the President of the UN Security Council, demanding an urgent session to discuss the disastrous and dangerous situation in the Palestinian Territories.

    Abbas' call came as Israeli troops continued its one of biggest military operation in Gaza, which started on Wednesday and has killed at least 42 Palestinians. Full story>>

        Arab parliament calls for Israel's immediate release of Palestinian prisoners

    DAMASCUS, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Damascus-based Arab Interim Parliament on Saturday called for an immediate release of detained Palestinian officials and civilians from the Israeli jails, Syria's official SANA news agency reported.

    In a final statement issued at its 2nd session here, the parliament denounced Israel's daily aggressions and repeated massacres against the Palestinian people as well as the arrests of Palestinian lawmakers and government officials. Full story>>
