BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Guo Boxiong, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), has urged the armed forces to support, publicize and practice the resolution by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to build a harmonious socialist society.

    Guo, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee's political bureau, remarked this when he recently visited the PLA Nanjing Military Area Command. During the trip, the senior military official had meetings with officers and soldiers of PLA's land, naval and air troops.

    In his talks with military personnel, Guo hailed the recent Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixteenth CPC Central Committee, which adopted the resolution and heard a key-note speech by General Secretary Hu Jintao of the CPC Central Committee, as a milestone for the nation's development. He pledged that the Army will adhere to the absolute leadership of the Party.

    He urged the Army to further increase its sense of mission and urgency and firmly safeguard the nation's security and unity and territorial integrity.
