Abbas, Haneya slam Israel's new round of Gaza offensive

    GAZA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ismail Haneya slammed on Wednesday separately a fresh Israeli raid into northern Gaza Strip where six Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded.

    Abbas described the Israeli operations as "a circle of dangerous and ignoble series because Israel is considering systematic operations in Gaza Strip without any reason."   Israeli army confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Israel Defense Force (IDF) is conducting a large-scale operation in Beit Hanoun, northern town of the Gaza Stripe.     Report: Israeli security cabinet opts to keep current Gaza raid

    JERUSALEM, Nov.1 (Xinhua) -- Israel's security cabinet Wednesday ruled out expansion of military operations in the Gaza Strip, but proposed maintaining the current scale to keep pressure on Palestinian ruling Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Israeli daily Ha'aretz reported. 

    IDF troops conducting large scale operation in Gaza

    JERUSALEM, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli soldier was killed when conducting an operation in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokeswoman told Xinhua.

    The spokeswoman said that the IDF troops who have been conducting a large scale operation in Gaza since predawn Wednesday encountered fierce enemy fires from the Palestinian militants.  

    He said that during the gunbattle with the Palestinian militants, an Israeli soldier sustained badly wounds from gunshot by Palestinian gunmen and was evacuated for medical treatment.

Israel confirms large operation in Gaza

    Jerusalem, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- A spokesman of Israel Defense Force confirmed on Wednesday morning that the IDF is conducting a large operation in Beit Hanoun, in northern part of the Gaza Stripe.

Israel arrests 25 Palestinians in West Bank as Gaza rocket attacks continue

    RAMALLAH, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Israeli army has arrested 25 Palestinians in West Bank, sources said on Thursday.

    The arrest campaign was focused in Bethlehem city, said the sources, adding that the troops had found a pistol and ammunition in one of the houses searched during the operation. Full Story
