BEIRUT, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah on Thursday accused the United States of interfering Lebanese national unity, saying that Washington is using Lebanon to wage "war" against Syria and Iran.

    "The latest American position is a blatant interference in a Lebanese internal affair concerning the Lebanese people's choices over their government and policies," Hezbollah said in a statement.

    The White House on Wednesday blamed Syria, Iran and Hezbollah of improvising a plan to oust the current Lebanese government headed by Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.

    Hezbollah rejected the U.S. accusations by saying that "the American position is meant to obstruct the internal settlement sought by parties attempting to reach a comprehensive national solution."

    "It is also meant to throw Lebanon into Washington's battle against forces and states that are friendly and brotherly to Lebanon and its people, including Iran and Syria," said the Shiite group.

    It added that "this American violation of our national sovereignty will not scare our people or prevent them from practicing all their constitutional rights, including the right to demonstrate, vote and select the government."

    The Hezbollah statement also called on the Lebanese people to unite under one banner, saying that the decision was theirs and not in the hands of any foreign power.

    Hezbollah is calling for the formation of a national unity government to "face up to the challenges with which Lebanon is confronted."

    It wants the inclusion of other political groups, particularly its Christian ally ex-General Michel Aoun, in the future national unity government.
