U.S. says working with EU on Iran
resolution
WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The United States
said on Thursday that it is working with the EU, as well as China and Russia on
the final language of a UN Security Council resolution on Iran.
"We are working with the EU3 (Britain, France and
Germany) partners, as well as the Chinese and the Russians, in order to reach
final language on a resolution," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino

France plays down Russia's rejection
of proposed sanctions on Iran
PARIS, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- France on Thursday played
down Russia's rejection over a draft resolution on sanctions against Iran's
nuclear program, saying it is "normal" that each country "has its position."
The European countries were "in the normal process of
drawing up a United Nations resolution, aiming at reaching an agreement and
ensuring the unity of the international community," French Foreign Ministry

Six powers to discuss restrictive
draft resolution on Iran
BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Ambassadors from six
countries -- the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council
and Germany -- are scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss a resolution on
Iran's nuclear program.
The draft resolution circulated by the United States
and three European allies includes the extraordinary step of preventing Iranian
students from studying nuclear physics at foreign universities and colleges, The

Russia: Iran nuclear power plant
delayed for technical reasons
BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- The launch of the
Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran has been delayed due to technical reasons,
the head of Russia's Atomstroiexport company said Wednesday.
Last month, Russia's nuclear chief Sergei Kiriyenko
said the plant will be commissioned in September 2007, with the power generating
launch to take place two months later. The plant was originally scheduled to be

ISNA: Iran confirms enrichment program
expansion
BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran confirmed
Wednesday that it had expanded its controversial uranium enrichment program, an
Iranian news agency reported.
The semiofficial Iranian Students News Agency
Wednesday quoted an informed source as confirming the second cascade had been
