TIRANA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Legislators from Albania, Macedonia and Croatia met on Tuesday in Tirana, the capital city of Albania, asking the NATO to open its door to allow them in.
Parliamentary delegations from the three Adriatic Charter countries pledged further reforms to enhance democratic institutions, the rule of law and the protection of human rights.
They also promised to promote political, defense and economic cooperation, and intensify fight against corruption, organized crime and terrorism.
The legislators signed the Final Declaration at the end of their meeting, which will be presented to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly at its annual meeting in November in Quebec of Canada.
Albania, Macedonia and Croatia signed the Adriatic Charter in May 2003 to facilitate their integration into the NATO. They hope to get the signal to join the bloc at the Riga Summit later this year. Enditem
