KABUL, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W.
Bush has repeated White House's firm stance to assist Afghanistan on a long-term
basis, an Afghan state-run newspaper reported Saturday.
Bush in his congratulatory message to Afghan President Hamid Karzai on account of Eidul Fitr, a religious
festival, said that the Untied States and allies would continue to support the
war-ravaged Afghanistan.
"In addition to congratulating the Eidul Fitr I once
again reassure you and the people of Afghanistan that the Untied States and the
international community would remain committed to help rebuild a stable,
prosperous and democratic Afghanistan," daily Anis quoted the congratulatory
message as saying.
Observed at the end of Ramadan, the Muslims'
holy fasting month, the Eidul Fitr would possibly fall on Sunday or Monday depends
on moon sighting as per Lunar Calendar.
