China Tibet Culture Festival
LHASA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese archaeologists have discovered a 700-year-old rare moat surrounding a monastery in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. "The unearthed part of the moat whirled its way about every five meters in a square manner, which has been a shape rarely found in history both at home and abroad," said Zhang Jianlin, deputy director of the Shaanxi Archeology and Research Institute. office in Vienna (UNOV), when attending the luncheon held for him and his
delegation by the UNOV.

Tibet Culture Festival from Oct. 18 to 29. The festival, part of celebrations to
mark the 35th anniversary of China-Austria diplomatic ties, features a photo and
tangkar exhibition, a Tibetan song and dance performance and exchanges of
activities between the Chinese Tibetologists and rinpoches and the Austrian
scholars.

Pasang Norbu, who was attending the "China Tibet Culture
Festival" held in Austria from Oct. 18 to 29, made the remarks to journalists

a yearning for a trip to China's Tibet.
Meeting a Chinese delegation attending
the "China Tibet Culture Festival," Haselbach said she hopes the Qinghai-Tibet
railway built on "the roof of the world" would help bring closer Tibet and the
rest of the world.
VIENNA, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Andreas Khol, President of the National Council of Austria, sent a congratulatory message on Monday, for the forthcoming China Tibet Culture Festival to be held in Austria. Khol said in the message he was very glad that the festival, scheduled for Oct. 18-29, was being held in Austria on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Austria-China diplomatic ties. BEIJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The China Tibet Culture Festival will open in Austria on Oct. 18 and run till Oct. 29, marking the 35th founding anniversary of China-Austria diplomatic ties and the ongoing "Year of China" initiated by the Austrian government. The
festival is the sixth large exhibition abroad of Tibetan culture since 2001,
said a spokesman for the Chinese Association for Cultural Exchanges with Foreign
