Oct. 16 -- After meeting his South Korean counterpart in Seoul, Russia's nuclear
envoy said on Sunday that DPRK officials have voiced commitment to the
denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. He was speaking in Seoul.. after which
he said both Russia and the Republic of Korea will try to revive the six-party
talks.
Alexander Alexeyev, Russian nuclear envoy said, “I was
repeatedly told in Pyongyang that they are for a continuation of the process.
They are for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula on the basis of the
joint statement and on the basis of the main fundamental point of this joint
statement, word for word and deed for deed.”
We both agreed upon that we should continue to work for a
diplomatic solution, that the Six-Party process should be revived and we have
all the chances that it still will help everybody to find the diplomatic
solution."
