BANGKOK, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- An economic chief of Thailand's new government ensured foreign investors Wednesday that the new national policy framework would fit the world's "free market".

"The new schemes will surely not contradict with free trade or a market-led economy," Deputy Prime Minister and Industry MinisterKosit Panpiemras said after meeting with ministers to draft the policies.

Kosit said the government's economic team would hold a meeting with foreign trade representatives and investors by the weekend, and it would convince them that the new government sees the free economy as greatly significant in terms of boosting the national economy.

"Our goal is to lift the living status of rural and poor people," Kosit was quoted by local multimedia group The Nation as saying.

The Cabinet would complete its policy framework by Thursday, Kosit said.

But he refused to reveal details of the policies. Enditem
