TIRANA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Albanian football coach Otto Baric has been fined 5000 euros by UEFA, the European football governing body, for discriminating remarks he made two years ago about homosexual players.

Local media on Thursday quoted an interview he made two years ago with newspaper Jutarnji List in which the then 71-year-old Croatian said that he would never select homosexual players, nor allow one to work with him.

"I might not be able to rely on a homosexual because they are weak and sick," said Baric.

Baric came here to coach the Albanian football team in last June when its German head Hans-Peter Briegel left his post. Baric has coached Croatia, Rapid Vienna, Salzburg and Dynamo Zagreb in his career. Enditem
