KABUL, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- An apparently premature suicide bomb ripped off eastern Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, on Monday, injuring three civilians.

    The bombing happened at around 10:00 a.m. on Jalalabad road.

    A Xinhua reporter at the site saw the attacker's remains were scattering on the road, and Afghan and NATO forces have cordoned off the scene.

    A witness said the attacker was getting off a car when bombs strapped on his body exploded prematurely, and the driver, apparently his colleague, escaped by car.

    One of the bombs exploded, while three others remained unexploded. Some technicians were defusing the unexploded ones.

    Kabul has suffered from rising violence in the past months.

    A huge suicide bombing occurred at a gate of Defense Ministry in the city on Saturday, killing at least 11 persons and injuring 53 others.

    On Sept. 8, another suicide bombing killed 15 persons including two U.S. soldiers just outside the U.S. embassy.

    Due to rising Taliban-linked insurgence, Afghanistan has plunged into the worst spate of violence this year since the Taliban regime was toppled in late 2001.

    Over 2,400 people, mostly Taliban militants, have been killed in the past nine months. Enditem
