RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's research institute IBOPE held polls on Sunday which show that former Sao Paulo mayor Jose Serra will be elected Sao Paulo states Governor in the first round of the elections, winning 58 percent of the votes.

In Minas Gerais state, the second most populous in Brazil, will not hold a second round either. Governor Aecio Neves will be re-elected with 75 percent of the votes in the first round, possibly the highest amount of votes among candidates for governorship of all the country's states.

In Rio de Janeiro state, polls showed that there will be a second round to define the next governor. Senator Sergio Cabral has 41 percent of the votes, while Senator Denise Frossard has 23 percent, which technically ties votes for Senator Marcelo Crivella, 21 percent. The question is who of them - Frossard or Crivella - will face Cabral in the second round on Oct. 31. Enditem
