MOSCOW, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A Tbilisi court confirmed on Friday espionage charges against two Russian army officers detained two days earlier and ordered a two-month custody for them, Russian news agencies reported.

Alexander Savva and Dmitry Kazantsev were detained in Tbilisi on Wednesday. Along with them were 10 Georgians charged with high treason. City court of the Georgian capital Tbilisi ordered keeping the 12 accused in custody for two months, the Interfax news agency said.

Another trial will be held later in the day. It involves two more Russian officers -- Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Zavgorodny and Major Alexander Baranov who were detained in Batumi -- and seven Georgian nationals.

The Georgian Interior Ministry confirmed the release of a Russian serviceman earlier in the day and announced that it has brought charges against another four Russian officers on espionage.

Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili said that the investigation "has numerous specific data on several years of illegal activities of the detained." Enditem
