    Bush denies Iraq terror claims

    WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush said on Tuesday that he "strongly disagrees" that Iraq war was a mistake an it is wrong to think the Iraq war has worsened terrorism.

    According to a national intelligence assessment report by the Bush administration and leaked to the media, the threat of terrorism has become worse since the Sept. 11 terror attacks due to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

    U.S. spy agencies say Iraq War amplifies terror threat

    WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S. spy agencies have concluded in a new report that the Iraq war has amplified overall terror threat by giving rise to a new wave of extremism, U.S. mainstream media reported Sunday.

    The report said rather than contributing to eventual victory in the war on terror, the situation in Iraq has worsened the U.S. position, both The Washington Post and The New York Times reported, quoting government sources. Full story >>>

    UN report: over 3,500 Iraqis killed in July

    UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Despite efforts by the Iraqi government to ensure respect for human rights and re-establish the rule of law, an unprecedented number 3,590 civilians were killed in July, according to a new United Nations report released on Wednesday.

    The latest toll brought the total for July and August to nearly 6,600, the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said in its latest human rights report. Full story >>>
