Special report: Iran Nuclear Crisis

TEHRAN, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Wednesday his country has already launched production of an advanced cannon, the state-run television reported.

The cannon could cover an aerial range of 7,010 meters and a 19-km surface range, Najjar was quoted as saying, adding "the cannon Fajr-27 is able to fire 120 76-millimeter shells per minute."

According to the TV, Najjar, who was inspecting the large cannon, stressed that the cannon could instantly react against any surface or air strikes.

Iran has recently introduced many what it called "most advanced" weapons made by itself during the large-scale military exercise, such as fighter jets, sub-to-surface missile, "Air Mining System" and short range surface-to-surface missile.

In April, Iran launched another large-scale military exercise, the biggest in several years.

During the game, Iran said that it had tested advanced weapons including missiles and torpedoes. Enditem
