DHAKA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) --
The death toll in the Bay of Bengal tragedy rose to 104 with seven more bodies
netted Monday, a week after hundreds of fishing-boats capsized on high seas amid
storms on Sept. 19 night.
Bangladeshi news agency UNB reported Monday that the
seven bodies were spotted in canals and rivers that fall into the Bay of Bengal
and flow around the southwestern seaside Sunderbans.
Meanwhile, rescuers have started returning as the
last hope for finding anybody alive faded out, UNB reported.
Although Navy, Coast Guard and Forest Department have
conducted rescue operation since the sudden burst of sea storms lashed at the
fleets of seafarers, the rescuers could not move in deep sea for lack of
adequate vessels.
Over 6,000 survivors have, so far, returned home after passing through the ordeals. They apprehended that some 1,500 ill-fated fishermen might have had watery burial as they said they saw many bodies floating in the bay. Enditem
