Meng Derong, a biology associate professor, looks after an egret at a wildlife rescue station in Cangzhou, north China's Hebei Province, on Sept. 19, 2006. Meng and many local volunteers have ringed at least 4,000 migratory birds in years for regular observation and monitoring.
