Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and eight others wounded on Thursday when a car bomb went off near an electricity office in a northern Baghdad neighborhood, a well-informed police source said.

    A car, parked near the office in the Hurriyah neighborhood, exploded at around 9:00 a.m. (0500 GMT), the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

    Violence has persisted in Iraq as bombings and assassinations cause dozens of civilian casualties daily. Enditem
