Tennis player Hingis to play in Hansol Korea Open

    SEOUL, Sept. 19 (Seoul) -- Martina Hingis, a world famous tennis player, will play in the Hansol Korea Open in South Korea early next week, the tournament organizers said Tuesday.

    Hingis, who was seeded top in the tourney, will arrive in Seoulon Sunday, after finishing the Sunfest Open in Kolkata, India, the organizers said.

    Hingis now stands at the ninth in the world ranking of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). She was awarded top seed in the tournament, while Maria Kirilenko of Russia was second, Marion Bartoli of France third and Ai Sugiyama of Japan fourth.

    Hingis' first match will be against one of four qualifiers in Korea on Tuesday.

    The fourth Hansol Korea Open will launch its competitions on Saturday and run for nine days in Seoul.

    The Open is a fourth-tier tournament in the levels of the WTA tour and will award prize money totaling 145,000 U.S. dollars. Enditem
