Well-known Chinese writer Jia Pingwa (L) receives the certificate of merit from Thomas Chow, director of Leisure and Cultural Services of the Hong Kong SAR government, in Hong Kong Sept. 13, 2006. Jia won the first prize of the 1st Dream of the Red Chamber Award, the World's Distinguished Novel in Chinese, and bonus of 300,000 Hong Kong Dollars with his saga novel Shaanxi Opera. The award established by the Faculty of Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2005, was named after the classical Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber.
