Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. soldier died of wounds sustained due
to "enemy action" in Iraq's western Anbar province, the U.S. military said on
Wednesday.
A soldier, assigned to a battalion under a Marine Expeditionary Force, was
killed on Monday, the military said in a statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of
kin, it added.
Since the U.S.-led war in Iraq broke out in March 2003, more than 2,660
U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq, according to media count. Enditem
