BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Nearly half of Americans blame the Bush administration for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, according to a CNN poll released Monday.

The poll was conducted by Opinion Research Corporation through telephone interviews with 1,004 adult Americans from August 30 to Sept. 2.

Asked how much they blamed the Bush administration for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, 45 percent said either a "great deal" or a "moderate amount," up from 32 percent in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll in June 2002.

In this poll, 57 percent Americas believe "the terrorists will always find a way to launch major attacks" no matter what the U.S. government does, while 41 percent say the government can eventually prevent all major attacks "if it works hard enough."

The poll conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for CNN from Sept. 14 to Sept.15, 2001, found 9 percent of respondents blamed the Bush administration a "great deal" and 25 percent,  "moderate amount."  Enditem
