Hector Larios Cordova of the ruling National Action Party (PAN) said in a statement that reconciliation should begin in the legislature.

"What we need is for everyone to fulfill their responsibility to make this country an ever-better place," he said.

Cordova made his statement just one day after Mexico's president-elect Felipe Calderon made a public speech, calling for unity and national reconciliation.

Mexico's top electoral court, the Electoral Tribunal, confirmedon Sept. 6 that Calderon from the ruling PAN, had beaten leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador by a small margin of 0.56 percent in the July 2 presidential elections.

The confirmation came after the court rejected all complaints made by Lopez Obrador of electoral fraud.

Javier Gonzalez Garza of Lopez Obrador's Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) said his bloc would take those decisions that were for the good of the country, adding that the PRD would work for reconciliation based on concrete proposals that would transform Mexico.

Emilio Gamboa Patron of the Institutional Revolution Party grouping said that the Congress would play a conciliating role in the transition process.

All three said they would make their best efforts to ensure that politics and strengthening of institutions would be the guiding principles for the 60th legislature, which begins work on Dec. 2. Enditem
