HONG KONG, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund Monday decided to allocate 11.3 million HK dollars to 138 charitable projects in the areas of medical, social welfare, special education, community and antinarcotics.
Chairperson of the Fund's Allocation Committee Eliza Lee said because of the donation, about 90 organizations will be able to improve and extend their services for the benefit of the local community.
Most of the grants will go to hospitals to acquire new equipment and organize educational programs for children.
Major grants include 1.26 million dollars for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to acquire equipment for the elderly and chronically ill patients, and to organize education camps for children with intellectual disability.
The fund was established in 1956 by Sir Robert Ho Tung's donation of 500,000 dollars and now grows into one of the major charities in Hong Kong. Enditem
