Special report: Israel, Lebanon agree on ceasefire
BEIRUT, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Minister of Justice Charles Rizk said Wednesday that Israel was still adamant in refusing to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 which calls for Israeli troops' withdraw.
In an interview with a local radio, Rizk said that implementing the UN resolution as a whole starts with Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon when Lebanese and international forces move into areas Israelis vacates.
"But it seems that Israel doesn't seek to fully implement this part of the resolution," he added.
Israel's persistence in keeping the blockade on Lebanon completely goes against the UN resolution and Lebanese independence and sovereignty, the minister said.
Security Council Resolution 1701 calls on Israel to withdraw from south Lebanon at the same time as the deployment of an expanded UN peacekeeping forces and Lebanese troops in the area.
The Israeli government announced Wednesday that it will lift its sea and air blockade on Lebanon at 6 p.m. (1500 GMT) on Thursday.

JERUSALEM, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Israel government announced on Wednesday that Israel to lift its naval and aerial blockade on Lebanon on Thursday at 6 p.m.(1500 GMT).
Israeli Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that international forces will take control of Lebanese seaports and airports as soon as Israel is to lift its blockade tomorrow evening. Full story <<<
