BAGHDAD, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Three people, including
a woman, were shot dead in separate incidents in the restive Diyala province on
Wednesday, local police said.
Unknown gunmen opened fire at a female government
employee in the Tahrir district in western Baquba, some 65 km northeast of
Baghdad, the media office of the provincial police said in a statement.
Separately, two civilians, a barber and the owner of
a grocery were shot dead by gunmen in western Baquba, the statement said.
Earlier, the media office said in another statement that 10 people were killed
and wounded in attacks in several parts of the province.
Baquba is the provincial capital of Iraq's Diyala
province, part of the so-called Sunni Triangle, a bastion of sectarian strife
and insurgency against the U.S.-led occupation. Enditem
