BAGHDAD, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- A car bomb and a roadside bomb went off successively in a northern Baghdad district on Wednesday, killing at least eight people and wounding 46 others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
"A roadside bomb detonated at about 7:55 a.m. (0355 GMT) at the Qahira neighborhood during the morning rush hour," the source said on condition of anonymity.
"Minutes later, a car bomb blew up at the scene, totally killing at least eight people and wounding up to 46 others," the source said.
The source said that the blasts targeted civilians.
Violence has persisted in Iraq as daily car bombings and roadside bombs kill dozens of civilians as well as Iraqi security forces. Enditem
