Belgium to reintroduce anti-bird flu measures
www.chinaview.cn 2006-09-06 06:29:36

BRUSSELS, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Belgium is to reintroduce measures next week to protect the country's poultry from avian flu at the start of the migration season, Belgium broadcaster VRT news reported Tuesday.

Starting from next Monday, poultry throughout Belgium will have to be fed and watered indoors to reduce the risk from bird flu.

The ban on the sale of birds at markets and shows will also be brought back, the report said.

In the places most at risk, such as areas close to water that attract migrating birds, poultry will have to be either kept indoors or protected by netting.

The measures will stay in force until at least next month, the report said. Enditem
