BEIJING, Sept. 5 -- On Monday, a lone gunman opened fire at the Roman amphitheater in the Jordanian capital Amman. One British tourist was killed and another six people were wounded.

Speaking in hospital, an Australian tourist tearfully recounted the moment the gunman struck.

Austrian tourist Ashleigh Blair said:"We were walking up some stairs at a theatre and a man came up behind us and started to shoot and all I can remember is one of my friends falling over and then a really nice man from a shop came and told us to hide in his store and we could just hear shooting. Everyone has been really good."

The attack is believed to be the work of a 38-year-old gunman of Palestinian origin who worked as a metal welder. He was captured at the scene and is being interrogated.

So far, investigators have uncovered no links to any known terror organizations.

A British man was killed in the attack. Five tourists and one police officer were wounded in the shooting spree.
