    JAKARTA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia, the biggest Muslim country, is to send over 1,000 troops on Sept. 28 to the Middle East for peacekeeping operation and to dispatch an advance team to the region on Sept. 12, senior officials said here Monday.

    Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda was quoted by Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono as saying that "the Indonesian troops will depart to Lebanon."

    "Now we are waiting for the schedule of the departure, from now on until the middle of September is the dispatch of the troops from Europe, Italy, French and Turk, then our troops," said Sudarsono.

    Indonesian troops will join with over 14,000 counterparts from several countries under the United Nation peacekeeping mission to cement the ongoing ceasefire toward peace in the region.

    About 87 percent of the Indonesia's 240 million population are Muslim, making it the most populace Muslim country in the world.

    Over 1,000 Lebanese and hundreds of Israelis were killed in the conflict.

    About 2,000 international peacekeepers are currently posted in the conflict zone. Enditem
