    JERUSALEM, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Israel will not limit its military force against Syria like it did in Lebanon, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Monday in a briefing to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the Knesset (parliament).

    "If we have go to war with Syria, we will do away the limitations on the use of force we placed upon ourselves in Lebanon," Olmert was quoted by local media as saying.

    Olmert reiterated that he would like to meet with his Lebanese counterpart Fouad Seniora, but he doubted that there would be conditions for negotiations between Israel any Syria.

    It was Olmert's first appearance in the Knesset defense panel after the end of a 34-day conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah in mid-August.

    The committee is set to call for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into shortcomings of the war following the move initiated by lawmakers Effi Eitam and Matan Vilnai, in opposition to a stance adopted by the committee's Chairman Tzahi Hanegbi. Enditem
