TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad Sunday told visiting UN chief Kofi Annan that Iran would not suspend
its uranium enrichment work ahead of talks.
"On the nuclear issue, the president reaffirmed to me
Iran's preparedness and commitment to hold negotiations," Annan told a joint
press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki.

TEHRAN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Visiting UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said on
Saturday that his meeting with Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani was
constructive and satisfactory, Iran's ISNA news agency reported.
Speaking to reporters after the closed-door meeting,
Annan said that he discussed with Larijani regional issues and Iran's nuclear
issue which are of interest to both Iran and the United Nations. "The talks were
very helpful and would assist me in my forthcoming tasks," Annan said.
"The UN and I are much concerned about what is going
on in Mideast and that's why we are in need of Iran's assistance and support,"
he said.

TEHRAN, Sept.
2 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pledged on Saturday that his
country would "firmly" defend the goals of its nuclear program in all talks on
the issue.
Ahmadinejad made the pledge in a speech in the
northwestern town of Maku. His speech came just two days after Iran failed to
meet a UN deadline for suspending its enrichment of uranium, paving the way to
possible sanctions against it, which the West fears is seeking to develop atomic
weapons.

TEHRAN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Iran warned on Saturday that
it would revise its policy of cooperating with the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA) if sanctions are imposed over its nuclear programme, Britain's Sky
News television reported.
Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Iran's representative to IAEA,
told the television that "If other erroneous measures are committed and the UN
Security Council decides on sanctions or punitive measures, there is no doubt
that the Islamic Republic of Iran will revise its policy of cooperation and its
engagements laid out in the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
(NPT)."
