ISLAMABAD, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan has released
112 Indian prisoners while India freed 119 detainees during the last six months,
Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurhid Mehmood Kasuri said on Thursday.
The foreign minister said in a written statement that
the Indian government has released 60 civilian prisoners and 59 fishermen since
Jan. 1 to June 30, 2006 while Pakistan has freed 19 civilian prisoners and 93
fishermen in the same period.
He said that the main reasons of the civilian
prisoners were illegal stay, incomplete documents, crossing border without visa,
over-stay and visiting the banned cities.
The fishermen were arrested for fishing in other's
waters.
As part of the peace process from January 2004, the
two governments agreed to expedite the release of each other's prisoners caught
on the wrong side of the border. Enditem
