The villages are located in Meukek sub-district,
South Aceh regency, some 500 km from Banda Aceh, capital of Aceh province,
Antara news agency reported on Thursday.
Head of Meukek sub-district Zaini Bakrie said in
Tapak Tuan, capital of South Aceh regency, that the flash flood which struck at
least 11 villages in the sub-district at dawn on Wednesday has also devastated
15 hectares of farmland.
The local government has distributed aid, including
food and other necessities, to the flood victims, said the report.
The flood water inundating parts of the road linking
Tapak Tuan with Meulaboh in West Aceh regency has caused long traffic jam.
Despite the unexpected flood, no casualties have been reported so far.
